Nezhit'

Nezhit' are the un-living. There are contentions among the wise as to whether nezhit' and nechist' are distinct classes of beings, or different terms for the same type of creatures. Though the debate is unsettled, nezhit' are typically former humans who walk the earth after having died, and beyond the grace of God, whereas nechist' are created as such (or, possibly, fallen angels). Nazhit' can spread their condition to other, currently living, humans, whereas nechist' cannot. That said, some nezhit' (particularly witches and sorcerers) are born into their condition, and are apparently fated to return after their death. Nazhit' include navii (spirits of the dead who are called forth to inhabit their former bodies to walk the earth, often doing a sorcerer's bidding), upyrs (bloodsucking vampires who rise to attack their kin and other humans), and vurdulaks (vampires with shapechanging abilities). Some incorporeal creatures, such as griozy, also walk abroad after their death, through whether they are nezhit' or spirits is not clear.

Genetic Descendants
