Session 30 - The Transmutation Evangel' Riot

General Summary

Each of the companions continued to pursue their own investigations. Alena walked around the market, hearing the concerns and complaints of various issues that the people had about the Kochmaki and the miserly actions of the voevoda. However, she had issues when some drunk men thought they could convince her to join for a night of romantic entanglements; instead, the found themselves in a violent entanglement instead. It was during this time that Alena seemed to convince the common folk of her destiny of a bogatyr with the ability to gain strength form the earth. Alena was also supposed to chaperone Vashti to her rendezvous with Savva. But on the morning of the day of her tryst, Vashti was nowhere to be found. Alena figured Vashti could take care of herself, and went about her business.
Similarly, Ivan Aleksandrovich found work as a court scribe. However, he also had issues, with people in the queue complaining that Ivan was budging in line, and with the difficulties of recording the proceedings in an efficient manner. His superior, the magistrate Lazar' Andreevich did suggest that his linguistic talent might find better uses outside the court.
Lada found work as a baker at the manor, quickly being given work, if only because they needed more hands to address the growing hunger of the crowds arriving for the celebration of the Great Day. However, with the strict and difficult hours, Lada had little time for much else, only learning a little bit about the feelings of the people after spending both days hard at work baking.
However, after these days of investigation and working, the group joined the town meeting to offer up concerns to the people and the local magnates. Specifically, as requested by Hegumen Terentii, to bring up the concerns of the Kochmaki scouts and possible army attacking the town. However, Vashti was nowhere to be found, and Khavronia, Lada's supervisor, made every effort to keep Lada away from the growing mob.
As Ivan was offered a chance to give his testimony, he refused to lie about the situation, one he found dire. However, a nobleman started trying to convince the crowd it was not the danger it appeared to be. After calling up Alena up to speak, the nobleman continued to shoot down even her impassioned speech, and soon after, called the guards to drive the party out of town.
However, it was too late. The crowd had grown into a mob, and the guards were suddenly confronted with citizens wielding sticks and stones. People were lost, likely trampled to death, and the party found itself engaged in combat with a number of guards. Ivan started by running, but with two guards in hot pursuit, he turned to face them. He dropped one quickly, but found himself losing his battle with the other, and had to continue running until he found himself beyond the gates.
Alena, similarly, was heavily injured. However, her Bogatyr's might and rage infused her, and she fought off three of these guards with help the magic from Lada. That said, she too barely survived, and both Lada and Alena found themselves hiding out at the church, running from the growing mob.
