Session 39 - Arrival in Dubno
General Summary
The party continues traveling by boat. Their efforts seem to garner some respect from the shipmates. However, sleeping while traveling is tough, and those who try to sleep on the boat find it very uncomfortable. In addition, many, huge swarms of mosquitoes seem to be prowling the banks of the river, along with certain lights that many on board attribute to river pirates.
When the party helps the crew and passengers help transport the the boat via portage to the river that will head to Dubno, progress was tough and slow. During the overland trip, a dog tried to get the attention of the party. Ultimately, the party learned that the dog was once a man, cursed for unknown reasons to remain in this form. Taking pity on him, the group decided to take dog-cursed man with them.
Upon arriving in Dubno, the companions found that the Church of St. Ilya and its associated Monastery of the Caves was a grand affair, with many smaller church surrounding it. The party was allowed entrance, with the exception of the dog, and confessed their sins and worries to one of the monks. When our story was told, and the party asked to be healed by Archhegumen Feodor, the priests seemed happy to host the party, and the request was sent. The same day, the hegumen met with the party, but he a exhibited a keen interest in Dukh v Dymu. He knew what Dukh was, and wanted to know why they had come there from so far away.
Though negotiations were terse, eventually Dukh relented, and said the hegumen could know the message he was meant to deliver only if Dukh was allowed to speak it at Light-Heart's burial site.
