The Forest Tsar and His Mushrooms
This leshy was encountered by the Yokels while they were making their way from Krinets to Kaverinka, about two days away from the latter village. They were encountered in a thicket where men calling themselves a boyar's coterie escorted the Yokels after taking a payment for trespassing, and leading them to what they said was the edge of their territory.
The mushrooms initially appeared during Vasilisa's watch. They surrounded the campsite and danced around, declaring that their master would appear soon to demand tribute for the party's intrusion. Soon, he did appear among the dancers. He was a short figure who wore his clothes inside out and backwards, and sported small horns on the top of his head. Chonkorchuk quickly identified him as a leshy. Thinking they had been pushed around enough for one day, Chonkorchuk challenged the Tsar, who grew to 12 feet, and then attacked Plamen, while the mushrooms harried the rest of the party.
After being blasted by Chonkorchuk, the Tsar succumbed to the four warhorses summoned by Plamen. Vasilisa threatens to take his forest away, but the Tsar pleads for his life, and sends his mushrooms for a magical sack he owns as a gift to the Yokels. While the mushrooms are gone, Chonkorchuk decides that he is lying, and finishes him off. Once dead, the leshy begins to merge with a nearby tree. When the mushrooms return with the sack, and see their lord dead, they begin to plead with the Yokels for one of them to become the new tsar, or to give them a changeling which can be raised as the new leshy. Plamen promises to look for a suitable candidate, but and the party takes the sack after one of the mushrooms explains what it does. Apparently, after saying "two out of the sack", two servitors emerge, and serve the bag's owner.
The mushrooms have not been seen since then.
