Abyssus
Enveloped in a shroud of darkness that defies attempts at illumination, Abyssus’s surface is an enigma, a planet-sized void where light fears to tread, and the very concept of time seems twisted.
Ecosystem
Abyssus's ecosystem, or what may pass for it, includes bioluminescent fungi known as "Eclipsemoss," which subsist in Noctisilica crevices, emitting faint, eerie glows that only serve to accentuate the planet's terror. Predators like the "Voidstalkers," creatures with carapaces of Noctisilica, navigate the endless dark using echolocation and feed on energy rather than conventional sustenance. The flora and fauna here are sparse, adapted to draw sustenance from arcane energies rather than sunlight.
Climate
The climate of Abyssus is marked by an endless night, with frigid temperatures that can vary wildly due to the consumption and repulsion of heat by the planet's volatile core interactions. Despite the cold, it hosts no ice or snow; even thermal energy is pulled into the abyss of dark. The atmosphere is composed of a thin layer of "Gloom Gas," a mix of vaporous dark matter and arcane essences, which contributes to the palpable unease and mental disquiet experienced by visitors.
Fauna & Flora
Surviving fauna include the "Shadeslips," serpent-like creatures with Noctisilica scales that pass through the dark unobserved, preying upon energy signatures. They share an unusual symbiotic relationship with Eclipsemoss, which churn bio-energy from the Noctisilica to sustain the Shadeslips. Flora, limited to Eclipsemoss, mutates rapidly when exposed to artifacts from the surface, giving rise to "Phantom Blooms," plants that flicker in and out of the visible spectrum and possess potent hallucinogenic properties.
