Old One

The Old Ones are the members of the Time Clan ruling class that are Ageless (see Agelessness) Government and and leadership offices are not limited to Old Ones; however, ageing people will often find themselves deferring to Old Ones even if they technically out rank the Old Ones. Some of the most well known ones are King Silverio Chronos, Colonel Andrew Goldblade, Dariana Desmet and Aureluis Herrero.

There's an unofficial etiquette that exists when interacting with the Old Ones. They do not talk about the past very much and they do not seem to appreciate being questioned about it. It is considered proper for military members to treat every Old One as if he or she is an officer. Refusing an order or request from one, while not illegal is rarely done. Aging people are not to approach Old Ones that are not acquainted with outside of official events or unless they have official business. Old Ones will call ageing people by the wrong names or refer to them by rank, occupation or some nickname. It is improper to correct them even if one regularly interacts with the Old One. Old Ones will refer to ageing people of all ages as "child," "boy" or "girl." Outside of formal and official events, Old Ones act very familiar with one another and it's not unusual to see one of them teasing the king. Ageing people should not be casual with Old Ones unless specifically invite to, or unless they are in some sort of romantic relationship with one.

Most of the Old One's personal histories are only known through oral traditions and some foot notes in history books. Their reluctance to speak of the past frustrates historians and fuels doubts amongst outsiders on the legitimacy of Agelessness. Colonel Goldblade is an excellent of this. When asked about his great deeds, he will suggest the questioner go talk to a bard and will either defect, ignore or given extremely vague answers to questions about his family, training, and childhood. Supporters attribute Old Ones' reluctance speak about past to the practice of the benevolent virtue of cultivation. To avoid over dependence on them by aging people they allow less experienced people to perform tasks that they themselves could do better to allow individuals to grow.
