Dreamsong Manuscripts

Purpose

Zanwor Fiddlespell was a renowned Archmage of the illusion school of magic. Having improved many spells - Color Spray to be more powerful, Invisibility to last longer, and Magic Mouth to allow for more words - they also created a wholly new spell. Dream was a spell created by the Archmage through the help and guidance of a Knowledge Rune. Archmage Fiddlespell is currently one of only a few mages to ever have both found a knowledge rune and unlocked it. Fiddlespell would record all his knowledge regarding spellcraft, illusions, and the knowledge runes within this crystal. The information was not placed inside the crystals but rather on them. Fiddlespell used a form of the Magic Mouth spell to allow for much more information to be recorded with it, however, it still took 12 crystals in total to capture all the information. The 12th crystal is cut short, cutting off some information about the Archmage's latest work.

Historical Details

History

Archmage Fiddlespell was a gnome who was born and raised within the Free Gnomish City. Their father was one of the four Merchant Princes governing the Free City. From an early age Fiddlespell was taught magic and spellcraft, and with their education they made sure to keep meticulous notes regarding their studies. Over the years Fiddlespell would see the rise of the Federal Republic of the Glimmering Lake and the end of the The Eastern Reconquest. Once the Reconquest ended Fiddlespell would spend some time within the Republic touring it and consulting with other mages. On one such trip in 999 ce Archmage Fiddlespell would visit the Scholastic Academy, as they had done before, regrettably Archmage Fiddlespell would die in a tragic magical accident at the age of 97. Upon his death the Scholastic Academy would take the Dreamsong Manuscripts and incorprate them into their own collection. This would cause major diplomatic issues between the Federal Republic and the Free City for years to come.

Legacy

Due to the information recorded within the Dreamsong Manuscripts the Scholastic Academy and Federal Republic of the Glimmering Lake's understanding of illusion magic would be speed up by almost a decade. Towards the end of the 900s ce the Republic was falling behind in magical studies but the addition of the Dreamsong Manuscripts to their collection would reignite their efforts and send them back to the forefront of magical scholarship.
