Beginning
Throughout the years the Mann family has been one of the leading creators of magical and non magical inventions. Some of the most notable members include Aalder Mann, Redess Mann, and Jarvis Mann. The Mann family first came to historical significance with the invention of the waterproof backpack by Jarvis Mann in 938 ce. Jarvis would have two children with his wife Lorelei, Redess and Leslyn. Redess and Leslyn were twins and would go on to become highly skilled and renowned scholars and inventors.
Redess
Redess was a highly accomplished mage, being recruited to attend the
Scholastic Academy at the young age of 8. He would learn the inner works of enchanting and infusing objects with magic. After studying at the Academy for some years Redess would buy a house within the
City of North and open a small store, The Mind's Eye. Over the next few years Redess would create many magical items, however, none would overshadow the
Gray Portrait. The portrait was created as a way of protecting the best mind a generation had to offer. The owner of the portrait could not be harmed, instead any damage to their physical form would be transferred onto their painted image. This portrait was passed down for generations to scholars, artists, and politicians though its current location is unknown. Upon the completion of the Gray Portrait, and its bestowment to the Headmaster of the Scholastic Academy, Redess was introduced as the first Merfolk faculty member at the Academy. After about ten years of teaching Redess would be announced as the new Chair of the Department of Artificer Studies. Redess would stay with the Scholastic Academy until his death in 1074 ce. Upon his death the Academy would create a new state of the art infusion laboratory bearing his name. Redess died without any children.
Leslyn
Once Redess was recruited by the Scholastic Academy Leslyn would start training as an inventor with her father. She would become known for many different inventions - waterproof socks, improvements to the agricultural plow, and the spinning wheel - these inventions would quickly become common place across the Confederation and be imported to the rest of the nations. The spinning wheel would quickly change the making of cloth and clothing from a slow and arduous prosses to something that can be mass produced. Leslyn would live in the city of Aqurus her whole life. She would also have one child, Sastyn Mann.
Sastyn
Sastyn would take after her uncle and follow in the magical tradition of inventing. She would be recruited to attend the Scholastic Academy by her uncle. Sastyn would train in both the School of Mage and College of Fine Arts. She would become an accomplished transmutation mage. She would create a way to imbue magical energy into someone through tattoos and other markings. These markings quickly became popular within the upper class and wealthy of the world. Sastyn would have one child named Nolis Mann.
Ending
Nolis would be the last great inventor of the Mann family. Most of the records surrounding her and her inventions would be destroyed. Nolis was killed in a home explosion. An invention attempt gone wrong would cause the Mann family estate to erupt in flame killing Nolis and two of her three children. The only survivor would be Dumus Mann. After the exposition the Mann family, now headed by Dumus, would move to the North River in the Federal Republic.
