The events leading up to the sealing away of the dark god Vecna by The Wayfaring Strangers...

Whispers of the King of Shadow

During the late 1370s after the defeat of the Rennlund Kingdom and resulting separation of the Felldoran nation from it, whispers began to be heard in the dark places found on Lyceia of a "King of Shadows." These whispers grew until there was a substantial following for this mysterious entity. Information was difficult to come by due to the inability to find actionable and reliable intelligence related to it. Those cultists who were found out and pressed for information were zealous and chose torture rather than to divulge what they knew. This all changed some years later with the formation of an unlikely adventuring party...

The Wayfaring Strangers

A party who would later be known as The Wayfaring Strangers unwittingly inserted themselves as an impediment in the plans of the cultist who intended to reanimate this King of Shadows. Through the ups and downs of their exploits, they saw many worldchanging events. The fall of one of the anchors that held this king, now known to be the dark god Vecna, releasing his second in command and setting dark events in motion and resulting in the fall of Port Bellah. The condescension of the gods, wherein Pelor's mate Mellandra returned to the corporeal plane to aid in the effort to seal Vecna and free her mate from the wounds that he received at the hands of the fallen gods centuries prior. The creation of a new race of Ratfolk through the twisted dark arts reintroduced through Vecna's disciples. All of these events culminated in the final confrontation of these brave heroes, alongside Pelor and Mellandra, and Vecna whose spirit was reunited with his frame through the deception of the party by Eldrissa Mellasombre.

Once the dust cleared, the party was victorious, and after the resurrection of their stalwart warrior Ru'uk the Tuskless, Vecna was placed under a more powerful seal. The Wayfaring Strangers returned to the duchy in the nation of Rennlund and began the work of establishing a goodwill relationship between Rennlund and Felldoran.
