Bluefield - Mana Fields

Bluefield was once a thriving city, known for its fertile lands of a blue flower with immense healing capabilities, known as Azure Blossom. However, 20 years ago, during the Draconis War, a powerful dragon attacked the city and the surrounding countryside, leaving it in ruins. The dragon's attack was so intense that it caused an overabundance of mana to be left behind, which transformed the surviving Nogmi into goblinoids and the humans into ogres. The mana storm caused by the dragon's attack also transformed the surrounding lands into a desert-like area made of sand-like ash. The goblinoids and ogres now call this place home, living in the ruins of their old city and scavenging the surrounding area for anything they can use as weapons, armor, housing, and tools. They are vicious and cruel beings, lacking in social graces, and feed on mana crystals left behind by powerful uses of magic, as well as cannibalism.   Kasmo the Wicked, a former Nogmi, leads the goblinoids. Mana Flares, or Mana Storms, are commonly found in this area and are the biggest danger to the area. Tornado's of sand, fireballs, ice shards, and lightning bolts fill the area in an unpredictable path. The goblinoids are adept at navigating the storm and use it to their advantage, killing travelers and stealing their possessions to bring back to their people.   The goblinoids themselves are deformed and mutated, with mana crystals often forming on their bodies.

Geography

Pre-Draconis Era

Post-Draconis Era

The immediate destruction of the mana flares led to the landscape of Bluefield and its surrounding territory to become completely scared and barren. Much of the landscape appears to be that of a sand made of burnt residue of what was there before mixed with the new rise in temperature. The instability of the mana flares caused the large amounts of mana to form into mana stones throughout the desert, becoming a hot spot for those who seek the items for trade, research, or value. The settlements that once existed here are now barren and ruined, left behind as only remnants of decay and skeletons, although some ruins left untouched or echoes of mana seeping through still remain. The current cities within this location are built of bone, the terrain itself into cliff dwellings and any other capable material that is able to be found.

History

Bluefield was once known for the massive gardens of blue mana touched flowers that were usable in various potions for the Lord's Coalition. While the city of Bluefield was not the wealthiest or largest city, its greatest export was well known throughout Shularix and was a sight to behold. During the Draconis War, an immense and powerful Draconis named Demirith flew over this section of the continent releasing large amounts of its own mana in the form of Mana Flares across the entire countryside. These Mana Flares were an immense storm of fire, tornadoes, hail, and rain all combined and existing together to cause the entire landscape to be decimated.

Government

With this area no longer housing the settlements it once did, the only surviving people that live here are the group of mana mutated creatures known whom call themselves the goblinfolk. These savage beings were once Hume, Nogmi, and Zhor whom took shelter as best they could during the mana storm. Leaving behind these cannibalistic creatures whom were able to find shelter, and livable circumstances within this area. Seeking an appetite on flesh and mana stones alike, they find themselves seeking out and searching for more and more powerful mana stones.

Relations

Passage through Bluefield in its current state is not advisable. While there is a quick and somewhat safe path that is maintained and blocked, the savage tribes that exist here still have begun to move further and further out of their normal habitats and along the road. Little business is done with these tribes outside of their own people, as their minds have been warped and are quick to anger or find they can take what they want by force over trade.
