Glacial Sea

The Glacial sea is the frozen, crystal clear and terrifying home to a thousand underwater horrors of the deep. The source of the mutated creatures that ravage the south shores of Thebia, Nyria and the underwater Tritonian kingdoms of the Aegean Ocean

The Surface

Located almost in its entirety in the Dusk Belt the Glacial Sea is an ocean littered with rogue iceburgs travelling from the Hypernotia ocean upwards towards the Aegean Ocean carrying with them the seeds that fell from the moon of Verda. As the iceburgs move and slowly thaw the seeds are released and bloom and in turn mutate the fauna and flora of the Glacial Sea. It is this process that made this dark and cold ocean the cauldron of creation for all sorts of creatures varying in size that due to overpopulation and the cold environment push continuesly nortwards towards the shores of Thebia, Nyria and the Aegean Ocean. It is this overpopualtion that in the recent years caused the greatest migration in the history of the world, the migration of the Deamkin of Aspiria.

The Depths

Althought the surface of the ocean stays in an almost frozen state for most of the year, the depths are continuesly heated by the underwater volcanic rift spanning from sourthern Aspiria to the easternmost coast of the frozen gate. Ships flying high over the skies of Duskbelt reported volcanic eruptions that catapult lava from the depths of the ocean to hundreds of meters above the surface of the ocean.

There would need to be a pirate base somewhere there, and a hidden volcanic island filled with dinosaurs, aka like 'The Land That Time Forgot'. Keep everybody happy, lol.

I honestly do not know for how long they would manage to survive but it's certainly a place only for the most cunning and brave to hide.

Heck yeah ice and glaciers and frozen expanses! My favourite kind of expanse :D   Love that beneath the ice is the source of horrific nightmare mutated monsters, that's awesome.

I like the Moon seeds that spawn an endless supply of mutant strange creatures that pose threats to the outlaying regions. The icy surface contrasting with the volcanic rift and likely volcanic islands. One might even expect "hotspots" with boiling seas or dangerously thin ice for over the surface explorers. Great layout with seeds for adventures and other ideas.

I *LOVE* the part about the seeds being released from the glacial ice. Nice touch!

I love the seeding of the planet by the moon. It reminds me a little of Anne McCaffree's thread, a continual shaking things up that kept that series endlessly interesting. This world is fascinating.

They didn't believe me when I said I arrived from the Glacial Sea. I don't believe it myself. If it wasn't for the passing sky ship and the helpful disposition of her crew I would've frozen out there. And the eruption that broke the ice- never have been so glad to be in the air! Could've met an end in fire too.   I don't know for how long I was in that sea for the sun never left the horizon. The sky was always in twilight. It was long enough for me to consider eating these seeds. Glad it never came to that because they are sprouting and they are already something I've never seen before. - Nemo, World Traveler
