Demographics
Humans 80%, dwarves 8%, halflings 7%, elves and half-elves 3%; other 2%. Most of the people living outside the walls are farmers of grain, lavender, linen and cattle or lumberjacks. People of the city are one of the best cooks, basketveavers and fur tailors on the continent. The cities inhabitants are divided between the serf and townsfolk majority that produce raw products, crafters that produce finished goods as bread, clothes, metalworks, buildins. Higher up there are the city officials merchants, knights of the star. And at the very top there are the royal families of the Elsir vale and the Clergy.
Government
Most classes have a one or few representatives in a council of elders that run the day to day operations of the city and coordinate people under their individual jurisdiction. The council also elects a Viceroy that represents the interest of the Alinorian crown and has the final say in most decisios regarding the entire Elsir Vale. The Viceroy must be a greater noble native to the Vale.
Defences
The city has stone walls that are 6m. tall, a western and eastern iron raisable gates flanked by defencive towers.
Industry & Trade
The Brindol conducts a lot of international trade with other states that border the vale, like the hill dwarfs of Bein'Grimvik for jewellery and raw metals, the tribal humans of the north for livestock and rare furs, and the Kingdom of Armo for the latest fashion, wine, salt, and fizical art.
Infrastructure
Since the city stands on one of the largest rivers of the continent there are a lot of watermills helping with the production of flower. Four bridges connect the divided city. Under them a highway of fishing and merchant boats of the shores cranes that lift the heavy produce and delicate goods onto the land. And ofcourse the many roads connecting near by villages to the city.
Guilds and Factions
Golden river company - local merchants guild. The black network - and international organisation of mercenary soldiers, and informants. Knights of the star - a union of holy knights and inquisitors protecting the lands from unnatural threats and heresy, bankrolled by the numerous churches and donations. The crafting guilds - unions of townsfolk whose interest are fair taxation and freedom of work. Church of Leathander. Keepers of the land - a religious cult that worships the land and the old ways.
History
was founded around 200 IE by river merchants. The blue palace was built in 454 IE by a foreign warlord that conquered the town named Ulrik Half-hand. after a few generations the native people assisted by divergent foreign nobles. From then on the palace was used for council meetings and as a the home of the ellected cities head. In the year 502 IE the Alinorian realm was absorbed in to the Dundarian Empire by a series of treaties and peacekeeping operations. In he 9th age the city expierianced a population boom and attracted the interest of emperor Antony Dundarian the III who personaly invested money to renovate much of the city and the crumbling palace and gave it the famous blue roof for it was simply his favorite color. In the year 1064 IE after the fall of the Empire the city became a direct vassal under the kingdom of Alinor.
Geography
The city is divided by the Elsir river, and is located in it's vale. Plains farmlands and plantations surround the city, a 1 hour walk to the north will lead to the eastern witchwood.
Natural Resources
Wood in the forests, grain, levander and apples in the fields. Cattle in the pastures.
