FAsAD Barrier

FTL Assault and Defense, acronymized FAsAD, is a barrier system that uses dark matter stimulation to warp incoming matter around the barrier's projector. FAsADs are standard on all FTL capable ships. Barriers work in a similar manner to the stim-drive, by creating a bubble of stimulated space around the projector. Incoming matter is stretched around the well and reassembled on the opposite side of the barrier with 0 relative velocity. To save power, barriers are typically set to put up a small area of warped space in reaction to a projectile moving above a certain speed. Barriers are useful for both combat and general operations at high speeds, where particles in stellar and interstellar mediums are relatively hyperaccelerated and can cause major damage to a ship.
