Ensign Gershom Rayniolt (a.k.a. Gershom Conquest)

Gershom Conquest is the Chief Tactical Officer aboard UCS Virage.
Born in Kansas City, Kansas, United States, earth, to a human mother and ordel father, he lived with his mother, an accountant and zealous chess player, where he gained his self-proclaimed tactical and logical prowess. His father was a commander in the UCAS, and they never met much. A mix of two very different species, Gershom has always ridden the line between pragmatic warrior and wide-eyed explorer. He made a decision at 20 to be an explorer, and joined the HSEI academy where he first met Jessi Freeborn and the two had a longstanding romantic relationship.
When he graduated, Gershom served aboard HEV Cavalier for one year before he caused a cargo handling accident that killed 3 astronauts, getting him removed from the HSEI. He took on his mother’s last name, Conquest, to escape the shame. He took on soldiering/mercenary work in this time, and was a very effective combatant. When the HSEI was purchased by the UCAS Gershom of Rayniolt was still barred from serving, but Gershom Conquest was allowed back.
