Second Orion War

The Second Orion War, often abbreviated 2OW, was a great war that engulfed much of the Orion Arm of the Milky Way Galaxy from February 1 2030 to February 2 2033. It saw the mobilization of armies of over 200 species, making it one of the largest wars fought in the Orion Arm. It is also the deadliest conflict in history as a result of the ordel Kwechabl doctrine, which led them to drop asteroids on multiple colonized planets to depopulate them.
The years leading up to the war were marked by rapid expansion of ordel military power. Ordel allied with various other nations that shared their ideals of spreading their own people as far as possible, including the shchar. This alliance was named the Eternal Milieu. The conflict started when ordel forces rock-dropped a dzlkali colony, killing almost a quarter of the population outright. Ordel forces rapidly pushed in to dzlkali territory, bombing and glassing colonies.
Despite having an army a fraction the size of its opponents, ordel tactics allowed them to crush their enemies. After bringing the dzlkali army to near-defeat, ordel forces moved to the opposite side of their territory to attack lalm colonies before their military could fully mobilize.
In early 2032 the Empire of Shchar underwent great internal upheaval and became the Shcharn Theocracy. This marked the end of their involvement in the war and Milieu. The tide turned against the Milieu after this, even with aid from smaller states, the ordel could not sustain their efforts without shchar materiel. On the eve of the Republic taking Fedaros, the Federation surrendered 2 Feb., 2033.
Fedaros was occupied by lalm 'diplomatic forces', an occupying military force that ensured the Federation underwent political change. The lalm occupation wouldn't end until a decade later. Many of the colonies that ordel rock-dropped were rendered uninhabitable for centuries, and many colonies that were subject to population replacement remained in ordel hands.
Following the war, the Orion Arm Republic was seen as a waste of effort and money. It was disbanded, and on 22 Feb., 2033 a new charter was drafted to create the Milky Way Systems Conglomerate. All involved states but the shchar joined the Conglomerate, including the ordel. Thanks to rapid political reworking of the Federation, they were voted into the Council in 2042, and allowed to rebuild their army in 2049.
