History
The origins of Apriorian Weave dates back for millennia, where Apriorian weavers would incorporate messages into their cloth. Traditionally it was male Apriorians who would be taught the skill.Symbolism and Stitch
Ther are two main parts that taken into account when communicating through Apriorian Weave: The overall design (shape and colour), as well as the specific woven stitch used. Expert weavers can intertwine multiple stitches, colors, and shapes within a single textile piece, resulting in complex multi-layered communication that may look unassuming to individuals not well versed in the language.Design
Apriorian weavers have a specific code they go by when using specific shapes and colours in their work, which is easy enough to be read by the general public. Colours follow the trends on how they are percieved by the culture at the time, meaning older textiles may have different colours used to mean the same thing compared to something more modern. There are also specific orders that the colours are used to incorperate an extra layer of meaning to the cloth.Stitch
Apriorian Weave also incorporates intricate stitches, each carrying its own significance. There are 10 different types of stitches that are commonly used which can be mixed and matched at will. The specific messages communicated through the stitch are more difficult to be read, with the need of a trained eye to be able to understand it.Weaving by Nanotide
That image melts my heart! Great article. This is the kind of nonverbal language that I'd love to pick up a history book on.
