The Godspire

In Senet'tu stands an ancient monolith, the Godspire. For centuries it has been the focus of worship and mysticism, with most mortals knowing little - or nothing - of its origins. It stood before Senet'tu was built, and the city was founded around its base, its builders believing the spire might protect them or give them luck.   Numerous cults have claimed the spire as the work of their god. Some proclaim it an evil creature frozen in stone. Others believe it the place where the Creature of Beginnings hit the world in its shattering, or perhaps the location where Frugi created the world from. The most pervasive and oldest believe however is that the Godspire is the door to the realm of Onorrodi, the Divine of Sensuality.   The spire is one of the 18 Wonders of Macalgra, and many flock to see it. The ritual of rubbing ones palm against the stone is thought by followers of Onorrodi to impart fertility, and so many residents of Senet'tuwould do this when they hoped for a baby.   The Sura Empire has in recent times frowned upon the cults of Onorrodi that set up around the spire, and in 3201 YSB banned the worship of Onorrodi and fertility rites. All visitation to the spire has been closed for the last 39 years.

Architecture

The Godspire resembles at a distance the great nest of a termite. Standing over 50 metres tall, slowly tapering to a sharp point at its height, and spreading out in root-like protrusions where it pushes down into the stone of the ground. Many believe it continues below the whole city. The whole structure is made of the darkest stone, which seems to absorb the light of dark, making it dimmer as one approaches its base. There is no reflection from it, the stone as matte as night. It casts a great shadow, darker and larger than one would expect. It has no cracks, entrances or imperfections and no one has ever been able to scratch the material.
