The Queen Mothers, Lyanna and Elia, pass within weeks of each other. Lyanna was taken by fever, and Elia by her infamous frailty.

Aemon did not return from the campaign’s fringes in time to be by his mother’s side. She died of her fever just as he approached the city, and when he heard the tolling bells, he knew he was too late.   Lyanna Stark had been a woman a war had been started over. She had carved her own path within the annals of history and cemented herself as a Queen of Westeros, a mother to an unlikely King, and, indeed, a woman worth fighting for. In death she was sent home to Winterfell, to rest with her brothers, as that was what she would have wanted. Elia Martell did not long outlive her fellow Queen, and she passed surrounded by family when her frailty got the best of her, buried in the Water Gardens she had loved so much.
