After marrying Margaery Tyrell in secret, Prince Viserys Targaryen is granted the lands of Summerhall to build his own branch of House Targaryen.

Viserys Targaryen, who had spent his life in the Reach, had been charmed by Margaery Tyrell, the comely daughter of Lord Mace Tyrell. She knew how to temper his anger and warm his heart, and he desired her above all else as a result. He did not wait for his brother’s leave to marry and plucked his rose from Highgarden, taking her to bride and leaving his second home behind with her in tow. Rhaegar was not one for anger, but was at first irritated at his brother’s rashness. It would be his Winter Queen who reminded the Dragon King of the love they’d shared, too. So Rhaegar blessed the match and granted his younger brother the ruin of Summerhall, the place that Rhaegar had loved so much, and ordered Lord Renly Baratheon to aid in restoring the palace to glory for Viserys to make a home for himself.   Viserys Targaryen was not a humble man --Upon hearing that he was to receive Summerhall for his lands he was critical, calling his brother a nostalgic fool, and insisting he would not live in that ‘smoldering old graveyard’. Margaery Tyrell, as she did in all things, would convince him otherwise, and House Targaryen of Summerhall, a secondary royal line, was born of their children.
