Marriage of Cersei Lannister and Walder Frey

Marriage

292AC

His first act of Lord of Casterly Rock at nineteen, Tyrion arranges for the marriage of his sister Cersei to the Lord Walder Frey and the two are joined in the same year that the last Lady Frey passed away in. She is the elderly lord's eighth wife.

At the age of nineteen Tyrion Lannister finally assumed Wardenship of the West from his ailing uncle Kevan. With that mantle came new responsibilities; he had to arrange a date for his marriage to Princess Rhaenys, and deal with the many issues in the West that his uncle Kevan had been unable to get to. One of those issues was his sister, Cersei, who had become positively repulsive entering her later years. She had been arranged to marry a Westlord but she had found him not to her tastes and had thrown fits that had simply made Kevan give up on the match, for he was too wearied to deal with her. Tyrion, on the other hand, was more than happy to wrangle his sister in his new position over her. He offered Cersei's hand-- With the largest dowry any man had ever seen-- to Lord Walder Frey of the Crossing, and he accepted.
