While on royal progress through Westeros, King Aemon and Queen Daenerys are met by a Priestess of R'hllor who claims that dragons will be reborn from their bloodline.

It would be at the King and Queen’s stop in the Riverlands during their progression that they would meet a stranger garbed in crimson. A red priestess came begging audience, naming herself Melisandre, a follower of R’hllor. She claimed that, in her fires, she had seen dragons reborn of the line of Aemon and Daenerys, and that it would be their children and grandchildren to reignite the fires of magic within their world.   Many would laugh her off -- R’hllor was a god of Essos, and surely held no sway over the machinations of Westeros. Some, more open-minded were mindful of how a similar witch had said that the Prince that was Promised would be born of the line of Jaehaerys II, who was the grandfather of Daenerys and great-grandfather of Aemon. Was this secondary source merely confirmation that greatness would come of this match?   In the end, it was mere prophecy, and prophets do not know everything. The kindly Daenerys thanked the red priestess for her words and sent her on her way. It is impossible to tell if the words of Melisandre affected the rule of King Aemon and Queen Daenerys, but one thing is true.   After this encounter, they would have many, many children.
