The Blood Serpent
She was once a powerful deity, being one of the first of her kind to be born in the astral sea. Her children and those who worshipped her were a lost ancestry known as the Yuan-Ti. These serpent's conquered most of the land in their time, way before the birth of elves and dwarfs. As a result Estikatl chose her form based off of their image and offered them guidance in other more hidden knowledges, as well as a way for their empires to truly thrive. All of these gifts were offered with one payment in mind, The blood of her followers. Blood to those who lived around this early era of Maeon was believed to be linked to the soul. The Yuan-Ti thought that the heart housed the soul and the blood flowing from it had parts of their greater selves. This blood would shift around the form aiding in a beings movements. Spilling ones blood for a god would be the ultimate commitment to them, thus Estikatl overcame the rest of the yuan-ti gods of the time before being the sole deity worshipped in Maeon. The time of the Yuan-Ti was not meant to last as the races of Dwarfs and Elves soon were formed and as such other gods formed in the astral void. Wars broke out resulting in great losses for the Yuan-Ti as well as the Dwarfs and Elves. Estikatl used the blood of the fallen from both sides to gain power, and the Dwarven God Moradin as well as the Platinum Dragon Bahumant planned to end the Blood serpents rule. In one planned movement the gods unleashed hell upon the land, destroying all Yuan-Ti cities. The Yuan-Ti were made into nothing, only a small few surviving the onslaught of the gods. Withought the flowing blood of her followers, Estikatl was left to slowly die and decay. As of today, she is known as the Patron of witches. Offering those who seek occult knowledge power, in exchange for their blood of course.
