Session #4
General Summary
This session, the party has decided to conduct a prison break from the Giant Pits on behalf of a escapee they met named Gaulbrynn. They also plan on securing some transportation (horses, carraige, etc) to travel further north.
Session Framework/Narrartion
Arriving at the Giant Pits
The party will likely arrive during the day when the Pits are in full swing. crowds of people bustle through Smashtown as they make their way across the bridge and through the gates that lead to the Pits. Merchants and mongers can be heard calling out to sell their merchandise, and the energy of the crowd is high. Among the crowds, a knight clad in skeletal-themed armor can be seen and heard discounting the Pits, claiming them to be blasphemy to Lyspeth, the god of death.Infiltrating the Giant Pits
There are multiple ways for the party to enter the Pits. While many possibilities exist, the following are the most likely/practical:- The party could theoretically buy a day pass and enter the pits as guests. Their access will be limited to the viewing areas, but this is a clean way to get through the front door.
- At the bottom of the Pits there is a large gate that the New Bond Guards use exclusivley to add giants to the Cells. It is heavily guarded and would likely require a frontal assault (although stealth is possible), but allows for the most direct access to the prisoners
- The party could steal uniforms from New Bond guards (either in Smashtown, on patrol nearby, or directly from the Pits.
- A kitchen from Smashtown prepares food for the guards of the Pits. The Party could disguise themselves or smuggle themselves inside their cargo.
- The party could launch a full assault. However at the first sign of Giants escaping the Pits, the Guards will release toxic gas into the cells and arena.
Risks and Stakes
- If the party is discovered to be working to free Tuslog, the guards will attempt to take them out. If possible, they will take the party alive and bring them to Deeplocke for interrogation and sentencing.
- If the guards sense that a prison break is imminent, they may attempt to open the valves and release the toxic gas into the cell and arena, killing the giants.
- If excess chaos or violence is committed during the breakout, Sundr will reconsider his partnership with the party
Freeing the Giants
- A riot or public panic can be insighted, and the party could use the panic and chaos among the guards to help the giants escape.
