Virgil Holloway places a number of explosives around Duadon as a distraction. While the Lion's Pride and the city guard deal with the bombs, Virgil Holloway breaks his cousin Ernesto Halloway out of jail and escapes.

A Race Against Time, by Kent Ertman
Virgil Holloway uses all of the remaining funds of his bandit group to purchase a number of fireball spells in stasis. He places a number of these explosives around Duadon and sends a note to the City Guard with hints as to their locations with a warning that they will all detonate in three hours.
This serves as a distraction for his attempt to break his cousin Bruiser out of jail. While the Lion's Pride and the city guard decipher the riddles, and deal with the bombs, Virgil Holloway breaks his cousin Ernesto Halloway out of jail.
The Lion's Pride deals with the final bomb with only 5 minutes to spare. As the three hour time limit ticks down, Virgil Holloway uses one final bomb break out Bruiser. Once out, they steal horses and escape into the forests south of Duadon .
