Calishka

Calishka is a Saevalic state populated almost exclusively by lizardfolk and is where most lizardfolk are found around the world. Located in a marshy area in the south of The Saevel Confederacy, Calishka is not a place many people are particularly interested in visiting, a fact which pleases the locals who usually aren't very fond of outsiders. Those who do travel their are met with hospitality, yet plenty of passive aggressive hints to leave. Some scholars have joked that they are merely imitating how they are treated when they choose to leave their marshy homeland, and are simply acting how they believe everyone does.

Structure

Calishka is governed by a council of elders known as the High Scales with the most respected and experienced among the lizardfolk being chosen to serve. The council meets regularly to discuss matters of importance to the state and its people, with decisions made based on a consensus reached by the members. The council is also responsible for maintaining relationships with other states within the Saevel Confederacy, although their isolationist tendencies often mean that they do not actively seek out diplomatic ties.

Culture

Most denizens of Calishka have lived there for their whole lives and few plan on changing that, the majority of the population has little interest in any affairs outside of the Saevel Conderacy and some don't even care about any events not pertaining to Calishka. This nature is not born out of malice or distaste for outsiders, but rather a more independent nature that has fostered in their remote towns and villages leaving little need for external influence. The lizardfolk of Calishka are known for their artisanal skills in crafting items such as pottery, textiles, and jewelry, using materials unique to their marshy homeland. They also have a rich tradition of storytelling and music, often incorporating their natural surroundings and the creatures that inhabit them into their tales and songs.
