The yet-to-be-named Sapphire Oath begin their expedition south to escort Joubert to Argil.  On their travels, they get to know each other better as well as the elder priest.

Marduk, Ravel, Beatle, and Lord Sapphire joinied Samuel Joubert on his journey towards Argil. The first handful of day went fine, camaraderie shared on the trail as our companions paced along with the elderly priest. The mornings drug on and Ravel facilitated the elder's journey through her horse form. The evenings around the fires were filled with conversations. The party learned Beatles history, his quest to earn full membership in his house, his mysteriously missing parents, and the his relationship with his master Johanneth Lennonis. Marduk and Lord Sapphire bonded over their positions outside of common society though marking two different sides of that boundary. Marduk's own trials had lead him to a better understanding of the intentions of others. Not only a survivalist of the wilds but of society as well. Where Marduk was keen on being weary of the subtleties of interaction, Ravel was prompted into admitting that maybe she wasn't always so reserved. While she doesn't mean to be preachy or judgy, she can take her beliefs very seriously. It's just who she is. In the end though, this line of thinking brought into question aspects of Joubert's own life as a man of faith and beliefs.
Ravel questioned the priest why he had joined the priesthood and what he would have chosen to be if he weren't a priest. Joubert started with a simple answer to the first question that exploded into something greater for the second. Growing up in a rural barony, you either did what your parents did or you were sent to apprentice elsewhere. As the eldest child of many, he was sent away as soon as his parents could manage it, in this case to the clergy. After a lifetime of blessed service, though, he could not earnestly pursue the thought of another life. So few people are blessed with the potential to tap into the weave of magic in the world. For him to both be one of those few people and to then be put in the position to be used by a god, to attempt to desire a different life would be a betrayal of his gifts. Whatever mistakes he had made in his brashful youth, he was clearly strongly endowed by his god. Despite having sins to work off, he would continue to serve. When Marduk asked what he feared on this journey, it was that there was reason for the adventurers before him to need to be here as well. All of what Joubert spoke of would quickly come to prominence far sooner than anyone hoped.
