Purpose / Function
Coral housing is a popular choice amongst Pelagoi as, thanks to their discoveries, can use it underwater, but also nearby shores thanks to their Longsalt solution. They are also, to a certain extent, used as shelter since some corals have branches which can injure predators.
Alterations
Thanks to the salvaging nature of the Pelagoi, many corals are dressed, outside and inside, of various ship wreckages to make them unique. As the pelagoi like the differentiate themselves with colors and varies shapes of their clothing, it expands to their housing as well. You can see a spider silk thread on one, a pirate wheel rotating to the wind on another, a lantern on some on land... the possibilities varies.
Architecture
The architecture of the Coral Housings varies greatly to the individual, but as most Pelagoi live around the same materials due to their recent and recluse nature, most have at least one piece of furniture or architecture coming from wrecked pirate ships nearby the crown.
As for the inside, the color is usually made through a choice of alguaes glued on the interior like some makeshift wallpaper. This help provide extra nutrient to the coral while softening the interior by layering it.
History
During the coming of the first Pelagoi, many before their travel through the river stayed in roaming free corals for housing and protection when they became big enough to become prey of avians and other predators. When they managed to settle alongside the river, some put their new expanded mind at the test to bring corals upstream. After some decades, they also produces a longsalt solution which could make them put corals on land while keeping them alive. To this day, about 30 percent of the Pelagoi on Man'gaihi island reside on land through different housings, including coral housings.
