Rán, Goddess of the Sea
Rán is the wife of Ægir and together they rule beneath the waves. She is known to drown sailors in her inescapable nets after she has sunken their ships. She then collects all valuables to add them to Ægir's treasure hoard, but the bodies and souls of the sailors she keeps for herself.
She lives with Ægir at the bottom of the sea with their nine daughters, the Waves. Though Ægir may be their father, he spares no time on them and so they join their mother in her efforts to terrorize those who sail with gold but have not offered a sacrifice to Ægir.
