Cragfoot
The village of Cragfoot is nothing more than a handful of tents and wooden buildings to house the workers of the iron mine. The fort in Cragfoot, called the Sunken Keep, was built on very soft ground and thus is constantly sinking into the ground as the keep is extended upwards. Currently there are only two floors above ground, but another seven that are below ground. The keep was built very well and as such the underground levels are perfectly inhabitable and very defensible. The village acts more like a work camp than anything else. Many of the workers don't even live in Cragfoot and instead take the train in and out everyday so they don't have to sleep in the dank caves.
Defences
Cragfoot is inside a large cave that had been dug out and reinforced by oreads to provide a natural chokepoint into the settlement. There are a set of palisades that guard the entrance into the mine to ensure no wandering giants from the Troll Crags make their way into the mines, but wouldn't survive a concerted effort. There are a handful of legionnaires and engineers stationed there. A handful of cannons sit atop towers to fire at any giants that get to close and scare them off or kill them if they decided to attack.
Industry & Trade
Cragfoot is known for its production of iron and copper. Iron is used extensively throughout Sunreach and is combined with the coal produced in Markland by the Brothers of Iron in Lastop to create steel weapons and armor for the legions and auxiliaries. Copper used to be a very unederused resource by most civilizations but the engineers from the Sunreach Institute of Technology and Engineering, or SITE, use it extensively in their mechanical creations and pay a good amount to get their hands on what the mines of Cragfoot produce. There are also a few gems that get produced by the mines that are sold to the magical colleges of Sunreach as well as shipped to Ashfalls as sustenance for the Oreads and Earth Elementals that have made their home there.
Infrastructure
Cragfoot has two major buildings. The first is the Sunken Keep which is mostly underground as the keep has continued to sink. The second is hardstop station which allows the iron and other metals and gems produced by the mine to be quickly and easily transported south down the line the Lastop and Sunreach to be turned into various worked metal goods or jewelry or to be sent up to the University of the Sun for magical uses. The village has a few wooden structures and tents for workers to sleep there if they can't afford housing in Markland or Lastop or just want to save as much of their pay as possible, but most workers choose to make the commute to Cragfoot everyday to not have to sleep there.
