Tanjeta

Tanjeta (t.a.n.j.e.t.a) were an ancient species of cephalpod-like creatures that hailed from the Old Galaxy. They have various descendants in the galaxy of Markait today, some dangerous, some endearing, most intelligent. Most famous are the Gatrot and the Hefni.

The tales passed down through the ages say that the Tanjeta were once a pre-sentient species of land-dwelling cephalopods whom the ancient adamkin attempted to uplift. Divisions amongst the advanced people eventually foiled the project, splitting the species into several subspecies, some intelligent, some similar to their previous animal existence, and some radioactive spacefaring psionic monsters.
