Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

Piglins of both sexes experience ruts, during which their sex drives increase dramatically There ruts tend to occur once every two years naturally but temporary ruts can be triggered by other species going in to heat/rut

Ecology and Habitats

The Nether is an incredibly hostile enviroment with factors such as extreme heat, several active volcanos, infighting, and scarce resources. As such, piglins had to change to survive.
They can survive in harsh enviroments, including opposites to the Nether such as extreme cold, in some cases.
Piglins are also in the process of developing resistence to Withering due to their constant conflict with Witheren tribes.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Piglins are carnivorous out of neccesity, but are biologically omnivores. If given the chance to add plants to their diet they take it, Piglins leaving the Nether tend to incorperate a large amount of non-meat items to their diet as soon as they are able.

Behaviour

Most piglins are naturally aggressive, starting to play fight to a much rougher degree than any other species as soon as they are able to stand and walk. Older children regularly maim each other and have to be forcibly seperated, and wars between clans is constant.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Piglins are only given personal names, often passed down through family. In place of a surname, they introduce themselves with their personal name and the name of their clan (____ of Clan ____).
Piglins leaving the Nether often take on their clan's name as a surname.

Beauty Ideals

Piglins of any gender tend to grow their hair long. They use practical hair styles (Braiding, Buns, Etc.) to maintain them, keeping it out of the way of fights. Piglins in The Nether tend to keep their hair as the natural reds and pinks, but piglins that leave the continent tend to dye their hair to match the human or other dominent species colors.
Clothing is practical and durable, often doubling as armour.
Piglins that have more gold are considered more attractive, often covering their bodies with it. The main way is jewerly, rings covering their tusks, hands, and tail, gold chains woven into their hair, gold piercings on their ears and face, and so on.

Gender Ideals

Male and Female piglins are extremely similar, both being highly agressive and physically strong. Both men and women are expected to be able to fight to the same degree. Children are often raised by the entire clan as opposed to one individual of a life partnership.

Courtship Ideals

Piglins mainly court through sex, often having several casual partners throughout their younger years while they look for a life partner or partners. Once entering courtship with their life-relationship (refered to as "Formal Courtship"), other aspects come into play, though sex is still a major part of it. Piglins become almost territorial over their partners, making and ownership is common in these relationships. Gifting is another crutial part of a formal courtship, items like jewerly having their own meanings.

• Rings, for example, are often given at the beginning of a formalcourtship.

Accepting these gifts means accepting the courting, with intent to become life partners
Another part of courting is violence. Piglin partners will often spar violently with each other, drawing glood and causing injury. This violence is mutual, though in inter-species relationship this can vary between mutual violence or expressing the agression though other ways such as sex or competitive activities.

Relationship Ideals

Piglins are ambiamorous, with no general leaning towards monogamy or polyamory. They also have no typical leaning between homosexuality or heterosexuality, both attractions as well as varieations between the two being accepted.
Piglins experience a younger phase of multiple casual relationships before transitioning to a closed, lifelong relationship. Life partners will typically have a child in their 50s or 60s if they are capeable of producing one.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Piglins speak a word and sound based language refered to as Piglish. Mainland Piglins have six distinct dialects, Northern, Southern, Eastern, Western, Outcrop, and Combined. Those on the northen island have three, Coastal, Island-Outcrop, and Island-Combined. The eastern island has Brutish, Gable, and Tred.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Hair Braiding is heavily intimate activity for Piglins. The braids themselves can represent clans, family, partners, and alliances. Individuals only let those closest to them braid or even touch their hair. Piglins outside of the Nether often braid their own hair, creating their own signifigant braids for the people around them.

History

Piglins are a clan-based civilization, with many clans scattered across the three islands making up The Nether. These clans have been warring with each other and the Witheren Tribes that share the land for centuries.
