The Mustur of the Twelve
"You'll find few mass gatherings at the Mustur, instead you will find silent worshipers at all hours of the day. The twelve orders share the duties of maintaining the Mustur and you can find at least one attendant from each there most of the time."~The Traveler's Guide to Demia
Purpose / Function
The Mustur is designed to be a place of worship where one can pray to any of the twelve lucid gods of the Common Pantheon. Shrines are placed in each of the dozen twelve antechambers surrounding the main hall where one can usually find a representative of the associated god's priestly order. The Mustur is not a place of worship but only for prayer as Demians do not pray within temples but only worship. The Mustar of the Twelve in Tharsa is simply unique in that it houses shrines to all twelve gods and goddesses whereas most cities of such a size have a temple and a Mustur for each of the gods.
Alterations
The original Mustar was burned down when Tharsa was besieged during the Freehold's Rebellion. The original was made with lumber from the now extinct ebonwood tree, which is almost completely fire-resistant. The new Mustar was constructed using native pine and fir lumber but is painted black with pitch to recreate the original look.
Architecture
The Mustar is a large central chamber with twelve antechambers, three between each of the four entryways. Each antechamber houses a shrine to one of the twelve lucid gods and is often attended by a priest of that god's holy order. The central chamber has an open ceiling, allowing light to shine trough but also making it remarkably cold in winter.
