Bastion

The Bastion is the oldest and most prestigious institution of human higher education in Materia. Its fortress-like structure is located in the Kingdom of Solom of the Three Kingdoms, and represents the pinnacle achievements of old Ascan culture and knowledge. It is widely considered to be one of the great wonders of Materia.

History

Originally founded as a male-only college of magic, the instruction has since broadened its scope to encompass teachings regarding mastery of all subjects, and accepts all manner of human students. However, the Bastion has never taught nonhuman pupils.

Archives

The Bastion's archives are said to be the most extensive in the Western Centerian world, dating back over 4000 years. Containing detailed historical records, wonderous magical artifacts, detailed information on exotic flora and fauna, and countless genealogical histories, the information stored within is coveted by many. However, it is generally only accessible to the Bastion's masters and the royal family of Solom, who help protect and fund the institution in exchange for its expertise.
