Medolania Medolania, the Lost Continent.

Medolania, the Lost Continent, home to all manner of creatures, beasts and civilised folk, is a land best described as fractured. Less than three-hundred years after the dissolution of the Rozani Republic and formation of the Rozani Empire, five, arguably six, nations vie for control of the continent.   Chief of these are the Rozani, largest and most militarily able of all nations, once the conquerors of the known world, she is long past her glory days but by no means is she off of the world stage. Her calendar, army and economy are models for other nations which were quickly copied, she wields influence through the Beogradian inquisition, forcing political concessions on her Helvenic and Draconic rivals in the south, neutering their cultures with the stroke of a pen. Her territories are vast and varied, home to Vedalken, Humans, Halflings, Firbolgs, Elves, Giants and Genasi, stretching from the Frostrim in the North to the Joint in the South, there is not a person alive that can say they haven't heard of the Rozani or her fair capital of Rozan, at least on the soil of Medolania.   Her greatest rival, the Helvenic Dominion, comprised chiefly of dwarves and gnomes, are an industrious and proud folk. Leaders of the rebellion against the Republic due to unfair citizenship, they are as quick with their sword as they are with the hammer, leading the way technologically, wielding great machines of war on the battlefield and instruments of marvel in the laboratory. They are an unpredictable kingdom, though they have been staunchly and steadily led by their King, Denfor, since the days of the Reclamation. Behind him stand dozens of Dwarven and Gnomish lords, ready to bear arms to defend their king and motherland.   Arguably the strongest of the southern nations is the Draconic Ascendancy, chiefly composed of Tieflings, Humans, Dwarves, Orcs, Gnomes, Dragonborn and Lizardfolk, her rise to power was untimely and unpredicted. Throwing off the yolk of Rozani tyranny with their Dwarven and Tiefling allies, they were turned upon swiftly by those two, only to repel them with the use of aerial firepower from the Wyvern Brigade, powerful magics of the Dragonkin and the blood of the Dragonborn. She controls most of the viable farming land in the south, is home to a multitude of cultures and is a power in her own right. Led by an elected High Ascendant from the capital of Drakkenhaus, whose orders and will are carried out by Electors of the Ascendancy, they espouse the values of democracy and justice from their Rozani counterparts but practice it to a much more extreme degree.   The Vedalken Collective are a collection of islands off the western coast of Medolania, bordering the Shattered Sea and Sea of Souls, famed for their intellectually gifted peoples, sea-faring savvy and diplomatic ability. Their influence stretches far beyond their small holdings, all the way to the seat of Fellhammer, the Senate of the Rozani and the throne of the Ascendancy. All manner of races are welcome in the Vedalken's isles, provided they offer no trouble.   The Beogradian Inquisition, the smallest of nations within Medolania, she is newly formed as an agreed upon neutral territory by all major nations of Medolania. Her job is to maintain religious peace and conformity within all nations' borders, backed by the power of the Ascendancy and the Rozani, all other nations large and small agreed to abide by her strict pantheon and provide her Inquisitors no opposition in their lawful duties. Officially, the Inquisition maintains no standing army, though an army of Inquisitors from all nations stands ready to serve, recovering lost relics of great power, imprisoning opponents to her order and enforcing the will of the High Inquisitor.   All of these great nations vie for control, religiously, diplomatically, militarily, technologically and agriculturally. Within their borders, organisations of varying talent and individuals of note will crop up, ranging from the unscrupulous trading conglomeration known as the Czerka, to mysterious criminal organisations known as the Middle Hand. Towns, villages and cities provide safe harbour from the madness of the unprotected lands, wherein most military forces are kept on borders, in strongholds or in cities to safeguard against invasion and maintain order. In this vein, an adventurer's life in Medolania holds much promise, from treasure hunters seeking great weapons, coins or relics from the long dead Gallacian Dynasty, to sword swinging mercenaries seeking to battle great beasts at the edge of the Al'Akra desert, Medolania presents challenges to all strong enough to rise to them.   The question she presents to you, traveller, is what challenge will you rise to?
