An ex-pirate, now weary of water, seeking a refund for a lost treasure.

Aruj was born in the city of Emerhall to a very poor family. Growing up he would commit petty crime, stealing loaves of bread or trinkets he could sell, to do his part and help his family survive.
 
When he was of working age, he managed to get a job at the docks which would pay him close to nothing, but was a common job for young children. He spent his days mopping up various parts of the ports from blood, water, piss and vomit.
 
One day while working, he decided to relax a bit in the lower parts of the docks which weren't commonly frequented. He pitched up a hammock behind some crates and went to sleep. He was woken up a few hours later by whispering and banging. He tried to discretely see what was going on, however he was spotted and detained by the group of pirates who were smuggling metals into the mainland.
 
The pirates did not want to kill an innocent child, but couldn't let him leave. They decided to take him with them instead as a slave, and a new life began.
 
He continued his back-breaking work from the port, only now it was on a ship. He spent most of his time on the ship as a child, even when they would get to ports in various parts of the region like Coastbite Cove.
 
As he grew older, he eventually officially became part of the crew, after the captain had taking a liking to him. As the years went on he saved his parts of the wages and eventually left the crew, to start his own.
 
He quickly learnt that he was not a good captain, after years in the sea with a new crew, they eventually left on their own, or got caught and thrown behind bars. When most of his crew were gone, Aruj sold the ship for a fair amount of coin, and decided to take a break from the harsh life and live differently.
 
Aruj heard of a tourist attraction, in an archipelago on the western isles of Vedalken. He took his crate of gold, got himself a spot on ship owned by Czerka and set off.
As the passenger ship head off for the isles, a disastrous event happened, the ship is attacked by a Kraken, and survivors were stranded on uninhabited isles. Aruj eventually managed to escape, and is now on the mainland once again, weary of water and seeking out a way to get his lost fortune back.
