Teonyss

The continent of Teonyss is a strange blending of old and new. The oldest magics in the world take their root here, as do the legends that disseminated across the Wairoki. The most well known, and that from which the continent takes its name, is the defeat of the dragon Teonyss by the goddess Oraysin when the world was new. The mountain range in the center of the continent is said to resemble the dragon's impact onto the earth after she was struck down by Oraysin's hammer during her attempted ascent into the heavens. A thousand years ago, while the continent was still the unexplored Expanse, the Changing Gate first made itself known, and from it, the city of Deyok grew into a world power.

Geography

The central mountain range - the Horntails - extends in several directions from the center of the continent. Explorers have reported deep caverns underneath the central portion, with the waters of the Elmwhisk sinking into the Cauningbog, which itself drains into the emptiness below. Several scholars have theorized the existence of a vast underground sea, or perhaps even a new lair for Teonyss, where she bides her time and waits for a rebirth. To the east, the Gaulmond Peaks create a natural barrier for the booming city of Deyok, and form the source for the Elmwhisk, which many says combines the natural waters from our plane with those of the Feywild. Greyhurst, an ancient keep that exists primarily in old dwarven salt mines to avoid the bitter winters, is as pale as the iceberg-covered Driftsea that it borders.

Fauna & Flora

Much of what made the Expanse a bizarre world of fantasy for explorers has been overtaken by flora and fauna imported from more settled continents. There are still enclaves that resist being overtaken, and monsters that flow with glowing blue ichor are still sighted with some frequency in the Cauningbog and Inkshore Peninsula, a callback to the strange blue crystals harvested to extinction by ancient mages.

Natural Resources

With ample farmland along the southern coast, the continent is nearly self-sufficient for foods. Salt, mined in the north, helps the farmers and fishermen sell what they catch both in Teonyss and beyond. There are fine metals and dragonglass in the Horntails, though the main resource is the proximity to the Changing Gate.
