Dwarf

"Born from the very stone that makes up the mountains and the underground, they care about nothing but about themselves and their riches, willing to give up their lives and fight to their last breath in order to defend their home."
  • Davos Orien, Maester Historian of the Red Citadel.
  • Dwarves, also known as The Dwellers, Dvärgar or Dagriin are intelligent, humanoid beings that inhabit the Mortal Realm along with mankind, but unlike the latter, they prefer to dwell inside their mountain homes, digging ever so deep in search of precious metals and gems, moved by their innate greed.

    History

The history of dwarves can be traced back to the times before Engelia, when written history was a rarity and most knowledge was passed on orally. Legends tell that, unlike men, who were created with all the six essences of the cosmos, dwarves are beings devoid of souls, as they came to be when the essence of Calystar was imbued into the stone that makes up the mountains, giving birth to these hardy, short and willful humanoids.   Moreover, the myths tell that initially, the dwarves inhabited the surface with mankind, while still building deep and complex mines wherever they lived and guarding their treasures dearly. However, when mankind found out that these short men were sitting on piles of gold and gems inside their settlements, they were swift to band together and raid dwarves, which despite fighting hard and fiercely for their wealth, didn't stand a chance against the numbers of their enemies. And so, slowly they moved and migrated to more secluded and safe regions, until eventually they decided to settle inside their own mines, and sooner than later, they were building great cities inside the mountains.   Because of these troubled past, dwarves are to this day very wary of mankind and vice-versa, so that any contact is limited to very few trades, which are almost always done in favour of the dwarves, as mankind strongly covets their craftsmanship and unparalleled skill with metal and stone.   The two most known dwellings of the dwarves are Gilbuldor (located in the north of the The Guardian Peaks) and Gul Darun ( in the southern portion of the Bris Mountains). Whenever they are sought my merchants and travelers, it is often to buy their excellent weapons and tools, as the dwarves excel when working with steel, although in some occasions, they also sell some made out of Struntine, an incredibly hard metal that only them know the secret and tools to it's forging.
