Funeral Rites
A common tradition, all across Människar, is that when an individual dies, it is of great importance that they receive burial or and funeral rites. Such thing is due to the fact that, both in the Arialist faith and overall Manniskarian culture, those that pass away without receiving proper rites are doomed to wander the forgotten realm of
Skuggar, a faith many deem worse than the hells of Kaorar.
A funeral ceremony requires little, but tradition is strict about it. Once the individual is confirmed dead, another must utter a small prayer in their name (although it may be just the deceased's name, for the nameless are denied the right for a judgement) and that an object of valor, emotional or material, be given to them, so that the dead soul may offer for either Mendrion ( as a toll) or to Zephon, as a sign of their honor, worthiness or overall goodness. It isn't required that the body gets buried, covered or burned, but the latter is recommended, as to avoid necromancy or the attraction of foul creatures.
Although this tradition is written in the Tome of Aeons, followers of all religions and most cultures tend to follow this costume as a sign of respect and civilization. A hideous criminal or equally bad person might be sentenced to die without a burial, as a severe punishment that is carried not only to one's mortal life, but also to the next.
