Lord Robar Ruthermont

Bio

Lord Robar Ruthermont, the current head of House Ruthermont, epitomizes the values and morals that his family has cherished for generations. A man of unwavering integrity and deep-seated traditions, Robar is known throughout the Vale for his honor, wisdom, and dedication to his people. He is a figure of stability in tumultuous times, always putting the well-being of his house and his people above personal ambition.

The Invasion of the Vale and Aftermath

In 421 AC, the political landscape of the Vale shifted dramatically when King Otho Bracken and the Iron Throne invaded. The invasion threw the region into chaos as the ruling families, including the Corbrays, Baelishs, and Redforts, fled to Essos with the aid of Lorath. This sudden abandonment left a power vacuum and a sense of betrayal among those who remained.   Lord Robar Ruthermont saw the departure of the royal families as a disgraceful desertion. While many houses were left leaderless and directionless, Robar stood firm. He viewed King Jamie Corbray’s exit from the Vale not only as a personal affront but also as an abdication of duty to their homeland. With the invaders at their gates, Robar chose to bend the knee to Otho Bracken, recognizing the need for stability and the preservation of his people over the prideful defiance that could lead to their destruction.   Robar’s decision was not without controversy, but it was a pragmatic choice that ensured the survival and continued prosperity of House Ruthermont. By swearing fealty to Otho, he secured a place for his house in the new order, maintaining their lands and their legacy in the face of overwhelming odds. Lord Robar Ruthermont’s actions exemplify his deep commitment to his house and his people, prioritizing their future over the fleeting glory of resistance.   Robar’s sense of duty was particularly evident half a decade ago when the Vale declared its independence under King Corbray. Although he did not always agree with King Corbray’s policies or decisions, Robar Ruthermont honored his oath of fealty, leading his house to support the new king with steadfast loyalty. The Ruthermonts followed King Corbray, demonstrating their commitment to the Vale's unity and stability, even when it came at a personal cost.
