The Paladins of Gwandrin
Composition
Manpower
The Kingdom of Gwandrin is said to employ approximately two hundred paladins at any given time, though retired paladins can be called upon in time of need. Due to the scarcity of Melterium it's difficult to have more than two hundred active paladins at any given time.
Equipment
Armor:
The Paladins of Gwandrin are equipped with steel armor dusted in Melterium, which makes them extremely resistant to magical attacks. Additionally, their armor is embedded with magical gemstones that provide them with a variety of combat related enhancements, though the exact effect of these is kept out of public knowledge.
In all cases paladins are also equipped with a shield, even if they're using a two-handed weapon, in which case their shield is affixed to their back in order to provide extra protection from behind. A paladin's shield is always loaded down with more gemstones and Melterium dust than their armor, and unlike their armor the material the shield itself is made out of varies from paladin to paladin. Weapons:
The paladins are traditionally armed with longswords enchanted with magic that increases their sharpness, however some of been known to make use of other weapons such as hammers and axes.

History
The Paladins of Gwandrin were formed in case of a magical uprising. As such the only time they've been fully deployed in force was during the War of the Rift, in which the kingdoms of Gwandrin and Elura fought for control of the landbridge connecting northern and southern Melra. They were instrumental in rallying Gwandrin's troops and holding back Elura's elite forces.
