Horasyn Palefury
Matron Horasyn Palefury (a.k.a. The Pale Fury, Ghost Maiden, Poltergeist)
In her own time, the name Horasyn was synonymous with fear and respect. Born from her mother's bloody corpse, she was at the centre of superstition, powerplay and intrigue as the very last child of the legendary assassin Anglith'afae Arabarett.
Her birth was believed to be an omen, but no one could have imagined how the promising new assassin and spellcaster would not only start her own house but turn away from Lloth and give their support to the Children of The Dancer.
Physical Description
Body Features
Descriptions of Horasyn are rather vague, but always striking. Her skin was described as "pale as fine ash" and eyes "like bone", making later generations speculate whether she was actually albino or just pale grey. Regardless, her nicknames "The Pale Fury" and "Ghost Maiden" with the descriptions suggest that her complexion was light enough to gather attention.
Her ears were not particularly large and tilted more to the sides than straight up, which caused more speculation about her possible father, combined with her unique skin tone. Most prominent rumours from her time suggest that she was either fathered by a drow from Zuess'tullus or a High Elf slave.
She was described frail as a child, but she grew up to be athletic. She was always described as very nimble, and eerily quiet in her movements, making her appear even more ominous.
Special abilities
Besides known as a talented assassin, Horasyn also dabbled in magical practices, most commonly Enchantment, Necromancy and Transmutation. She combined her knowledge of magic to her skills with bows and daggers to deadly effect.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Due to the nature of the time period Horasyn was born in, the records of her life are scattered and few, and most stories that exist about her life have a strong feel of legends instead of historical records about them. But hopefully, the most repeated legends are enough to build a picture of the past of the woman behind the legends.
Horasyn was the youngest child of Anglith'afae Arabarett, legendary leader of the Arabarett family and a talented assassin. At the time, Anglith'afae was already impressive 659 years old, something remarkable for a Drow Matron in the Llothian society. She was whispered to keep herself alive through dark magic and be the acting hand behind several unsolved assassinations, making her one of the most feared matrons of her time.
It was the Anglith'afae's grim reputation, that made the birth of her 3rd daughter (and 6th child) to be such a harrowing event. In some stories, the unbeatable assassin screamed on agony as the demon spawn inside her ripped its way through, as a storm of blood and core, though this hopefully was just an exaggerated story to explain the tragic death of the feared figure.
The event earned the newborn the name Horasyn, which roughly means "Strong, destructive Sadist".
A lot of superstition and fear circled around the young Horasyn. Her sisters were terrified of her but didn't dare to kill her, considering her birth possibly a sign from Lloth herself. Young Horasyn was sickly but showed promise with both blades and magic, and she was a quick learner. Behind the scenes, she was told to make many clean kills by the age of 40. She earned herself the nickname "the Pale Fury" and "the Ghost Maiden".
During The Cracking, whole world turned on it's head. As the several tunnels caved in and destroyed the Zuess'tullus, the chaos fell over the survivors of Mori'tarna.
With the rise of G'eldefryn Moondancer and Faith of Children of The Dancer, young Horasyn made a calculated decision, and offered her blades on the service of the first prophet. At the time this was a shocking gamble, but history tells it proved to be useful in the end.
Horasyn would become the head of her of house, which carries the name Palefury after her.
Work in progress.
