Other names
When born, children of makubash do not receive names, rather than nicknames if even those. The youngsters aren't truly named before their coming of age rite in the age of 12, where their names a decided through their performance in the rites. Names are usually descriptive, with one or two words, but the names of more than one word are usually shortened by picking syllables to make shorter and more manageable names.

To young males, hunt known as Eg Damvugzirun functions as their passage rite to adulthood. During this rite, the boys hunt for prey presented to the circle of men of their clan, and they receive their adult name and first position in the clan. For young females, a similar rite is called Nanul manun, "the needle trial", which tests their readiness to become part of the circle of women.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
Makubashs value strength and physical prowess, and the ideal male body is considered tall and muscular, with broad shoulders. Weight gain is seen as desirable, as it proves one's abilities as a warrior and a hunter. Well maintained tusks together with strong jaws are seen as attractive. The men often shave their heads, at least partially, to make taking care of one's hygiene easier.
Customarily, makubash women grow their fingernails long in the appreciation of the cave mother Luthic, as a sign of their devotion to the clan and their role in society. Long claws are considered attractive, and often filed in a tear-drop shape, or straight-edged. High ranking women grow their claws as long as possible, showing they need not work, where women with less status keep their nails on the length they can still perform chores. More voluptuous and chubby the woman, the more desirable they are seen.
