Early Life
Jansdimion was born and raised in Clathorstone in the Republic of Marshroot. His father was a senator and instilled in him a strong sense of patriotism and civic pride. Because of this, Jansdimion grew up with a strong desire to serve his country. After graduating from masters school and becoming a mind mage, he started serving in the Marshroot military as a strategist. During that period, the country was constantly trying to expand its territory and gain more resources by absorbing the small independent cities in the southern half of Sunntondra.
For fifteen years, Jansdimion worked his way up the military ranks and because of his impressive strategic prowess and military acumen, he reached the rank of general at the incredibly young age of 41. This caught the attention of many political leaders who saw the young general as a great asset, and they fought hard to curry favor with him. It was at this point, however, that Jansdimion began to see the darker side of the Marshroot political sphere.
Jansdimion was very much a patriot and even considered the country’s constant forced expansion a noble cause since the government touted it as bringing together an area that had been plagued with conflict for some time. However, he became disillusioned when he realized how much infighting there was among the political leadership. Several senators and other leaders had aspirations to bring territories under their own control to grow their individual power within the republic. Jansdimion was approached multiple times by influential leaders to join their side, but he refused all offers.
Several years went by and Jansdimion started to see more and more corruption at the highest levels of both the political and military leadership. Even his father, now retired from public service, told him that he feared the country was slowly being torn apart by those who were only interested in power and money. He encouraged Jansdimion to use his position and influence to turn things around and become a voice of reason.
Buoyed by his father’s encouragement, Jansdimion sought to take a more active role in the republic’s politics; however, this proved to be his undoing. Though he was a talented military tactician, Jansdimion had no skill in navigating the political minefield that was the Marshroot senate. Instead of becoming a standard that leaders would rally behind, his naïve and idealistic rhetoric scared politicians who thought he was trying to grab power for himself. Because of this, many leaders conspired against him, and concocted a phony scandal. Jansdimion was accused of war crimes for attacking and killing children in a Sunnin orphanage in a small village that Marshroot had annexed. Though the evidence was completely fabricated, Jansdimion was forced to retire.
The White Desert Monastery
At age 52, Jansdimion was forced out of his career, and shunned by many of the people who he thought were his friends. Though most people who were close to him knew that the accusations were false, they still kept their distance from the disgraced former general. Jansdimion felt that his life was now rudderless, and he had no idea what to do next.
As a high-ranking general, Jansdimion had amassed a fair bit of wealth that he rarely touched since he lived a modest life. He decided to use his saved-up money to travel the world for a while in hopes of finding a new purpose. However, he soon realized that much of the world outside of the republic had a far lower quality of life, and poverty was far more rampant outside of the major powers. He started to seek answers for what he was supposed to do with his life, and how he could make a difference in the world. It was during these travels that he learned of the fabled White Desert monastery known as Vinchu. Unlike the other legendary hidden cities, Vinchu seemed to be a realistic destination. Though no one knew exactly where it was, most people agreed it existed and it was just a matter of being brave enough to risk the nightmarish conditions of the White Desert to search for it.
It took him several weeks, but Jansdimion did finally find Vinchu, and he was welcomed warmly by the monks there. He spent months trying to learn the special mentus that was taught by the sect, windoon, which focused on mentus energy manipulation, but he found that he wasn’t particularly skilled at it. Despite being a talented mind mage, the branch of mentus taught by the monks was incredibly difficult. Because of this, one particular monk stood out from the rest, Davron, who was in his mid-twenties and not only a mind mage but a master of windoon mentus.
Jansdimion was both impressed and intrigued by Davron, who he learned had lived in the monastery his entire life. Though he was younger, Davron was highly intelligent and had a unique world outlook. For several months, Jansdimion apprenticed under Davron and the two became fast friends. Davron was the only one that Jansdimion could successfully learn from, and Jansdimion regaled Davron with stories of the outside world, which Davron knew very little about. After almost a year, Davron decided that he needed to see the world for himself, and Jansdimion went with him as a guide.
A New Purpose
Jansdimion first tried to take the young mind mage back to his home country, only to find that Marshroot had descended into a civil war that would last years. After that, Jansdimion faithfully traveled with Davron for over seven years and it was during this time that Davron learned the many problems that plagued the world, just as Jansdimion had done during his solo travels. However, Jansdimion noticed that no matter how much Davron saw, he didn’t despair or feel overwhelmed; instead, he seemed more and more compelled to find a way to change things for the better.
Davron was constantly trying to right any injustices that he came across, and Jansdimion helped in every way that he could. Though he was not nearly as talented a mind mage as Davron was, Jansdimion was an excellent strategist and knew how to find resources. He worked as Davron’s partner in all his endeavors and the two became best friends and close confidants.
As their travels continued, Davron began searching for the power he needed to truly change the world and he found that in the Book of War. When he was finally able to obtain the once-lost relic, Jansdimion was one of the few people who was with him, and despite the dark rumors surrounding the ancient book, he trusted that Davron would be the one person who could use it to bring peace to the world. For his part, Davron trusted Jansdimion as well, so when he made the bold choice to build an army to overthrow the old regime and create a better world, it was the logical choice to make his trusted ally—and talented strategist—his general. Jansdimion eagerly accepted the post and continued to serve both as Davron’s general and his right-hand man.
Friend / Confidant
Towards Jansdimion Clayton
History
Jansdimion regards Davron very highly despite the fact that Davron is younger than him. He knows and respects that Davron is far more talented in mentus having growing up in the Vinchu monistary. In the same vein, Davron has a very high respect for Jansdimion's strategic prowess and worldly knowledge. He often depends on Jansdimion to fill in the gaps when he takes decisive action with little planning.
Because neither had any siblings, Jansdimion and Davron often see each other as brothers despite the age gap. However as the general under Davron's leadership, Jansdimion is highly respectful. Despite their closeness, Jansdimion always tends to be very formal and subservant toward the leader he idolizes.
