Devotary of Redemption

The Devotary of Redemption is the rehabilitative or correctional aspect of the church. Those deemed guilty by Priests of Justice are sent to a Priest of Redemption for a chance to return to society. Typically individuals are redeemed by doing tasks that benefit the church, the local town, or their victim. If an individual fails their assigned task, they must continue to attempt it until they succeed. Some examples of tasks include working the farms for the Devotary of Abundance, seeking artifacts from the dwarven ruins for the Devotary of Wisdom, or working in a quarry mining stone. 

The Winged of Redemption do not issue tasks to the guilty- instead they ensure the tasks are completed, guard the guilty when they work in fields or mines, and assist them back into society once their task has been completed.

Tenets of Faith

The Devotary of Redemption believes that all sinners can be redeemed, for there is no evil inside Mercadia's borders. Anyone that commits a crime has faltered from the path of light, but can be shown the way again through labor, penance, and repentance. Those who have faltered are still valuable to society, and can be used as an example of why to walk the path of light.

Priesthood

Priests of Redemption choose the task for the guilty based on the severity of the crime, and the skill set of the guilty. They work closely with the priests of other devotaries, determining what tasks are deemed to dangerous for Winged members but still must be accomplished.
The path to priesthood in the Devotary of Redemption is achieved by ensuring the guilty complete their tasks, don't commit additional crimes, and become constructive members of society after their redemption.

Gaining Wings

When prospective members of the Devotary of Redemption turn 18, they are assigned a task by a Priest of Redemption. Typically tasks to gain Wings are the retrieval of artifacts from the ruins, or ingredients from the Garden of Freyalise. These are difficult tasks, and failure means the applicant must either try again or apply with another devotary.
