Saskatoba

Overview:

Saskatoba is a small rural city situated between Awatto and Ronto. It is considered the breadbasket of Amanada as its farms seem to be blessed by Drugen and give double harvests. Making Saskatoba one of the most valuable resources in Amanada. This has lead to the city rarely ever having been self governed. Instead it passes hands between Vicouver, Ronto and Awatto every 50 years as their protectorate. An agreement that was created between the three in order to avoid going to war over the area and possibly destroying it. It has, despite this agreement, been under the protection of Ronto for the last 100 years. 

It is overseen by a governor who is picked by its present protector. The people of Saskatoba pay little mind to the politics that surround them and have a strong sense that the power that be come and go but their everyday life stays mostly the same. The exception being when a corrupts governor comes into play and pushes for larger yields and taxes so they can pocket it. This has lead to the citizens of the city having a very strong sense of the value of their labour. As they will threaten to rebel or go on strike if they ever feel abused. This usually leads to the quick replacement of the governor so as not to interrupt  production.

• Saskatoba is well known to have some of the best rustic restaurants and breweries. It is the main exporter of beer to Amanada.
• There is a well found in the center of town. It it rumored that the well used to be magical but now it is dried up.

Known Conflicts:

• No known conflicts at the moment although there is a long history of the bigger cities wanting to control this city and corrupt governors who tries to exploit the Saskatoba for their own gain. 

Customs:

• Every harvest the citizens will throw a city wide feast. It's one giant potluck where they all get very drunk and spend the night dancing. 
• It is very important to not be wasteful, it is seen as an insult to the Mother and Father of nature. So when farming or ranching or any other job that uses the gifts of nature they use every part.  If anyone is seen to be or are perceived to be wasteful it is customary to spit at their feet. 
• If any one spills beer it is seen as a bad omen. To counter the bad omen any onlooker will cross their eyes and touch their tongue to their nose.
• At every dinner it is customary to have the first drink in the governor's honour... "whoever the fuck they maybe, let them stay out of our business and keep their hands in their own pocket. This way they are sure to live a long and happy life."
• It is customary when planning to say a prayer to Drugan and Floren for every seed that goes into the ground as it goes into the ground.

Lore:

• It is said that Drugan herself blessed the land around Saskatoba which is why it yields two harvests each year.
• There is a long held belief that Drugan and Floren were married in Saskatoba and from that wedding ceremony the city sprang into existence. 
• That if you donate your corpse to be raised as zombie so as to help the community farm your soul will be sent to the eternal feast, a place where you can live in a perpetual harvest party.
