Vladimir's Iconoclasts

The heretical group known as Vladimir's Iconoclasts were active in the years of 5023 to 5038, and its sign was the Soul Guard gauntlets but black. It was formed by a human by the name of Vladimir, a Soulguard paladin of Helm born in Ust. He believed that magic by its nature was not innately evil and spell casters should be allowed but controlled, and protect citizens in line with Helm's dictates. Vladimir sought change or abolishment of Witch Hunters.
His cause garnered some attention of certain places across Dezaria who had seen the horrors of Witch Hunters, and even some wealthy members secretly supported Vladimir. A small number of clerics and Soulguard paladins joined teh cause.
Once the Iconoclasts became public, the Order of Helm quickly labelled the group as heretics and unleashed the full strength of Soulguard and its Inquisitors to capture or kill any such heretic. Witch Hunters also sough the Iconoclasts, despite receiving no such instruction from the State.
In 5038, Vladimir was caught and was publicly drawn and quartered. Despite the horrible torture inflicted upon him, he did not renounce his beliefs. The Iconoclasts soon fell apart, with some suspects being excommunicated whilst known and captured members were killed in a Trial by Fire.
