History
This program was initiated in 381 P.A. as a modified successor to the CURSED program. Five students were selected. Each with a high aptitude for arcana at a much younger age. Since they were entering the program at infancy to four years of age, their development could be more carefully controlled. The five students were raised together with constantly changing caretakers, so that they learned to depend on each other and follow orders from superiors, no matter who they were.
Training and development was customized to each student, to strengthen their weaknesses and amplify their skills. They learned to cast as soon as they could speak and their training only intensified. The students received 8 hours of group instruction (6 of arcana and 2 of physical training), followed by 4 hours of private lessons. The remaining hours were “free study” for working on class assignments or personal projects.
The students training became more specialized as they aged, developing them in a summoner, abjurer, evocationist, diviner, and battle mage. The time of runing was assessed and decided on an individual basis and the process modified after the runic feedback and fallout of the CURSED program. Runes are smaller, fewer, and limited to certain areas of the body. Reportedly this has lessened the feedback issues while allowing them to cast without materials as intended.
The students began to run field exercises both as a group and in command of troops. They have reportedly been extraordinarily effective as a group and effective leaders on their own. The NEWWT program was made public in 406 P.A. and given officer rankings in the Rouyennese army. The group has been witnessed in Berg, attacking dragons and burning down smithys. Some members of the program were present at The Attack on the Wall and aided in slaying General Teigan. Fara Twoscar was at the Peace Talks and reportedly attacked the Representatives from The Elemental Isles and Berg.
Recruitment for the next batch of NEWWT students has already begun.
