On the Origin of Dragons
The first dragon was created by Tiamat, as a gift to Jarl Storvold of the Frost Giants. It was a creature made in her image, powerful, feral, and capable of withstanding the deepest cold, but tameable and willing to submit to those with greater power.
In response, Bahamut created a dragon of glistening scale, nearly as bright as his own but these creatures were to be noble, intelligent, and wise, a friend to all humanity.
The balance restored, Tiamat set to creating once again. Her newest creation was of the darkest temperment and inherently cruel with a skeletal appearance to inspire terror in all who laid eyes upon them.
And so Bahamut made dragons that were cheerful and witty with a desire to bring laughter and joy to all they met.
Tiamat escalated the power of her next creation, giving them the ability to control lightning and a mocking and manipulative personality.
Bahamut created a dragon with the same power but friendly and good natured.
Tiamat created her greatest dragon creation. A creature with breath of fire and the most vile, vain and covetous nature.
So Bahamut created two dragons to tip the scales back toward good. Both with fiery breath, but of drastically differing powers. One was small and talkative, and the other the most powerful of Bahamut’s creations with a steadfast sense of justice and goodness and scales bright enough to rival the sun.
And for many ages this was all the dragons there were.
During the Catalysm, Tiamat made her final creation, a devious creature and master manipulator, capable of swaying weaker willed creatures to their side, a great asset during the battles of the time.
Thus the last of the Ancient Beings came into existence and the Dragon race was established.
