Code of Red Law

The document holds laws enforced in settlements under the rule of the Shesire Sovereignty. A great many of the laws in it are inspired from the Code of Vreche. Some settlements apply other laws or ignore some from the Red Law, but it often is punished.
  A few iterations have been made throughout the years marked by the brackets [ ] stating their time period. If there is a "--" instead of a year, it means the law is still in practice.
 

LAWS:

    1. Punishment Control [-591 To --]
Only courts, nobles, Scarlet Legion Soldiers and those with permission from them are allowed to carry out punishments and executions.
  2. Coin of Worth [-591 To --]
Everyone must carry a silver Phoenix, if caught without one, they are subjected to a day of hard labour for the sovereignty.
  3. Proof Reinforcement [-591 To --]
If someone accuses another and charges them with homicide, but is unable to bring proof against them, the accuser shall be executed.
  4. Burgler Eradication [-591 To --]
If someone is caught in, or after, committing theft the burglar is executed and their Phoenix goes to the sovereignty.   5. Lazy Labour [-591 To --]
If someone has a dept lodged against them, and Duagha does not bless a fruitful wield for their hard work, in that year they will not repay the debt to their creditor, and they will give their property or tools of equal worth as repayment.   6. Commercial Guarantee [-591 To --]
If a merchant should give Phoenix to a trading agent for an investment venture, and the trading agent suffers a loss on the venture, they shall return the phoenix to the merchant in the amount of they were given initially.
  7. Adoptive Conscription [-591 To --]
If a young child is abandoned at birth they are adopted into the sovereignty to serve for the Scarlet Legion.
  8. Cattle Banishment [-591 To --]
No cattle are to be permitted in any settlement walls unless escorted by a Scarlet Legion guard, if any death occurs from this the Shepard is held accountable by the guard who will take one of the cattle.
  9. Slave Obidence [-591 To 13]
If a slave should defy their master, the master shall bring them proof of ownership and cut off one of the slave's ears.
  10. Divorce Parting [-591 To --]
In the event of a couple splitting apart, Searl gifts them a second chance by allowing them to split their belongings equally between the two spouses and the sovereignty.
  10. Alcoholic Restriction [-482 To --]
It is forbidden to serve alcohol to an individual under the age of 20, and it is illegal to consume alcohol on the curb of any street.
  11. Dedicated Love [-482 To --]
Polygamy is illegal and is a sin and is to be relinquished by the burning of Shesire's eternal fire.   12. Headstone Rest [-482 To --]
The digging of any grave without the blessing of Nhetal is punishable by being buried alive.
  13. Comercial Capacity [-482 To --]
If a boat can hold a capacity of up to 60 people, the owner is obligated to provide 10% of the earnings to the sovereignty.
  14. Seraphic Rapture [13 To --]
The ownership of any life considered sentient is strictly forbidden and is punishable by hefty fines.   15. False Idols [72 To --]
Worship outside the correct faith of the Totems is a sin and is to be relinquished by the burning of Shesire's eternal fire.

Purpose

To formulate laws to govern the land and keep the sovereignty from collapsing onto itself from chaos.

Historical Details

History

2 years after the Shesire Sovereignty was founded they replaced the outdated laws to create stability and a tight control.

Public Reaction

Heavily mixed, with the wealthy supporters benefiting extensively, while the lower cast suffered.
