Dragons Bay
The capital of the Slande Archipelago, it became the most free ruled land.
It is the leading settlement of freedom as throughout most of its life cycle no ruler is present with the only governance coming from the Pirate Code that keeps everyone from turning upon each other.
Only under certain situations is a ruler temporary elected.
Freedom for the locals means a strong bound community, who may on the surface seem harsh, but deep down are loyal to each other. Even without knowing someone they would jump into action to save them, as there are no governed guards present.
Its the most cosmopolitan land featuring people from all species and ethnicities. Ranging from the common humans, elves and dwarves to the aquxien, Bleeters and Nerakes.
Demographics
The uniqueness of its residence is their lack of class segregation. Everyone goes to the local inns, the same banks and same docks. Everyone lives together in unison, except a few individuals who prefer solitude.
Government
During times of peace there are no rulers, with everyone following by the pirate code, a list of rules allowing anyone to act on part of it without judgment or additional conflict. During times of war or great strife an election can be called to crown a dictator for the duration of the issue.
Industry & Trade
As most the residents are pirates they take a lot of their wealth and goods from merchant ships. And any excess goods are then sold through fences to either the Salt Trading Company or the Pearl Trading Company.
Districts
It is split into different districts based on where it is placed in relation to the Dragons skeletal remains.
Skull
The skull comprises with the docks against the shore in front of the mouth of the dragon. There are few buildings here with most being part of the docks, inns and warehouses. The skull hangs open allowing access into the rest of the capital.Ribcage
The heart of the city, this is where most of the services such as banks, postage, bars and much more. The centre of the ribcage is mostly commercial and the exterior is more residential.Left Wing
The second lowest district, second to the skull. It holds mostly farmland and a few residential buildings near the skeletal remains of the wing.Right Wing
The second highest District, second to the Tail. It holds the largest collection of residential buildings and excellent views across the Slande Archipelago.Tail
The highest point in the settlement, stretching all the way up to the tip of the mountain the dragon crashed upon. The tails tip itself was transformed into a temple dedicated to the pirate code, created by its founders.History
Founded during the war of the flying baron, when the swashbucklers of the seas had to unite under one fleet to defeat a dragon. Upon its defeat they fled to hide inside the remains of the Dragons as they waited out the war.
Eventually once the war ended the city was buzzing as many saw it as a great opportunity to prosper causing it to grow fast. In addition to the unification of the pirates under the pirate code making it a safe haven for them.
Points of interest
Spyglass Tower
A tower built on the Right Wing district at the tip of the Dragons claw. It constantly has someone on watch making sure to keep an eye out for invaders as it holds a great advantage point.Pirate King Temple
The temple dedicated to the Pirate Code and where the voting of a new dictator takes place. It is carved into the bones of the Dragons tail.Architecture
It looks like slums as most the materials used are salvaged from shipwrecks.
